100 word reflection on the translation of 2D visual ideas into 3D concepts
The 2D visual ideas I got from looking at the plans, photographs and models of Zaha Hadid's Contemporary Arts Centre are mainly based on the ideas of extrusion, pathways, and the arrangement of rectangular blocks to form complicated objects when combined. The main reason this building peaked my interest was the arrangement of the blocks. Zaha Hadid has used a really basic rectangular object form and has transformed it making it look exciting flowing well throughout the building. This idea has been translated into my paper models and 3DS Max model, trying to achieve a sense of pathways and discovery.
Assignment 1 A3 Compositions

This composition represents the concept of interchangeable pathways through the idea of stacked rectangular blocks on one another.
This shows how 'extrusion' can create new spaces to explore which then creates pathways relating to the composition above.
